Dalma didn’t care what these people called it. They had made eir sibling a slave and made Lilah’s slavery the price for Dalma and Sherzod’s safety. As for their claims that Lilah needed to be part of this /Pack/ of theirs… yes, Dalma had been frightened when ey learned that Lilah had… had become something more than human. but ey was still /Lilah/. Still Dalma’s little sibling. Clearly the tales of those bitten by the beast-folk turning into monsters were just that — tales.

But Lilah worshipped the ground the Noble Bethany walked on, and Sherzod kept urging Dalma to be patient, to learn about these… people. So Dalma was stuck.

Ey knows ey shouldn’t take it out on Abdal. The soldier had been good to Lilah and was trying to help Dalma and Sherzod build new lives in this strange company. But Abdal was also beast, and Pack, and Lilah’s mentor in all things Pack. Ey represented everything Dalma hated and feared about this new land.

And if Abdal didn’t stop poking at Dalma, ey might just do something they’ll both regret.
