Finally home again after the court season, safety still eludes Mattin and Jahlene. In spite of the way they have both grown, continuing miscommunication leaves them both vulnerable. Just when they might find their feet, a series of problems around the manor and the county leave everyone scrambling for cover. With problems constantly worsening, Jahlene is unable to care for herself or her people, and Marta’s distrust and attempts to pry Mattin free of the fae countess just makes everything worse.

With disaster looming, old hurts will need to be set aside, and old enemies will need to stand together, or not everyone will make it through the summer alive.
